Social Media Plan #1 – Purpose

Why are you on social media, and how are you going to meet those objectives?

Without a plan for this in place, the next two plans (Platform and Practice) are irrelevant. Just go play and have fun!

The reason you’re on Social Media sites like Facebook & Twitter is simple:

1.)    To Generate Leads

2.)    To Convert Leads to Clients by building Trust & Rapport

3.)    To Connect with Affiliate & JV Partners and expand your Tribe

There are a lot of strategies for accomplishing these. Far too many to explain in this post.

One thing I can tell you, is the clearer your Purpose, the more successful you’ll be.

Until you’ve got a clear Purpose in mind, you’re just drifting, and that’s never a good strategy. In fact, it’s a major contributor to the social media overwhelm we talked about in an earlier post.

So take a minute right now, and write a paragraph (no more than 1 page) about why you are on social media. And think about how you are going to meet your objectives using these tools.

In fact, here’s a piece of accountability for you: after you’ve written out your purpose, go ahead and post it in the comments section below.

Robert Cialdini writes about Commitment & Consistency. There’s some deep psychological trigger that goes off in our brains when we make a public commitment. Magically, we become consistent with our stated aim.

So take just a few minutes right now and write it out. Here’s a few words to get you started:
